“Kris… hey” he said, smiling back at her and pushing his empty coffee sup aside. “I’m fine, yeah, thanks. How are you?” he asked, biting on his cheek. He should really ask when her first change was going to be.. or wether it already had been, so he could help her with it, but it just seemed a bit rude.

“I’m okay-ish, I suppose.” Kristinia shrugged and tapped her fingers on her other hand absently. “You want to say something, but you’re not sure if you should say it,” she said simply and chuckled a bit. “I can tell.”

“Hmm? Oh no, I was just wondering why you were so cheerful today” she said cooly, leaning his elbow on the table and his chin on his hand. “Do you have super senses that tell you everything about a person now?” he joked, smiling at her.

It was pretty late on a Saturday morning, and James was sitting at the Gryffindor table, choosing to sit away from Cassie, Lily and their Quidditch rambles. He was reading the newspaper, flipping through the pages, then decided that there wasn’t anything interesting, so he put it down, and when he looked up again, there was an unusually smiley looking Kris sitting in front of him.

Kris walked into the Great Hall, tugging at the sleeve of her shirt as she looked at her feet. She looked up and immediately spotted James at the Gryffindor table. Walking over, she sat down in front of him and smiled. “Hullo, James. How’re you?” she asked, grinning.

“Alright, well, um. What do you usually do for fun?” he chuckled, sitting back in his seat and trying to brainstorm ideas of what they could do. They had already missed dinner, and it was pretty dark outside so if they left the castle they’d have to be careful not to get caught.

“I read, play quidditch, and crochet. I don’t really have fun crocheting, it’s just a hobby. I’m tired of reading and I’m not in the mood to play quidditch.” Kris continued tapping her fingers on her book and added, “That’s why I need you to entertain me.”

“Okay, let’s see. What do most bored people do? Well, erm, lot’s of people go out for a smoke when they have nothing else to do… er, some people like to swim. Other’s go up to the roof, um, what else? Yeah, some just go to the pitch because it makes them feel better” he said, shrugging with his shoulders.

“Well, this isn’t due for a few days, I reckon I could manage to send my uncle a letter and get a reply early enough, he always rant’s about dragons whenever he can. Or I’ll just ask Dominique, she’ll know something” he said, gently pushing the book to the side.

“Sounds like a good plan,” she said, smiling a little. “Well, I’m tired of reading. I haven’t eaten and I’m slightly bored. You should find some way to entertain me.” Kris chuckled and ran a hand through her hair.

“Care for Magical Creatures, and even though I hardly doubt that someone will grow up to take care of dragons, Hagrid is still convinced that we need to thoroughly study them” shrugged James, biting the inside of his cheek.

“Ah. Well, I know nothing about dragons at all.” Kris chuckled a bit and closed her book. She started tapping her hand on the cover as she looked at James. “If I don’t understand something, I usually get Finny’s help or make up shit that sounds intelligent.”

“Well, if you know anything about a dragon’s digestive system, you’d be great” he said and smiled, then began flipping through the think parchment pages of the book.

“I know absolutely nothing about a dragon’s digestive system and I don’t think I even want to know.” Kris laughed a bit and continued reading. “What class is that even for?”

“Care for Magical Creatures, and even though I hardly doubt that someone will grow up to take care of dragons, Hagrid is still convinced that we need to thoroughly study them” shrugged James, biting the inside of his cheek.
